Acupuncture Doesn’t Work

That’s a myth. Acupuncture has been used to relieve pain for centuries. Even still, it remains somewhat mysterious for some. Are you considering acupuncture? Acupuncture is a popular treatment used to relieve pain, inflammatory diseases and other ailments.

Dr. Likens has been providing acupuncture treatment for more than 20 years. He is very experienced in the field of acupuncture and how to apply treatment properly. After studying acupuncture at the Logan College of Chiropractic, he went on to receive his certification from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and his Fellowship from the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

This could not be further from the truth. Acupuncture is a real treatment with real results showing improvement and satisfaction. The Chinese call it Qi, pronounced (chee), but no matter what you call the energy, body movement is based up electrical impulses. These impulses travel along pathways that extend throughout the body. Injury and chronic conditions can inhibit or misdirect these impulses, which can cause pain, discomfort, and stress. Acupuncture has proven effective in correcting the pathways, in order to enable or redirect impulses, relieving pain and discomfort. Acupuncture can also assist with poor circulation of the blood in the same way that it deals with energy pathways. Endorphins also play a role in pain relief and discomfort. Acupuncture even aids nausea sufferers as well.

What Can Acupuncture Do for Me?

Acupuncture is an effective application that is helpful with any number of ailments no matter how long you have been suffering or what other solutions you have tried. It can also be beneficial as a companion application to necessary therapies and/or medicines. Patients have reported its use as helpful with upper and lower back pain, tension and migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, various dental issues, menstrual discomfort and pain, nausea, cervical pain, and tendonitis throughout the body.

Chemotherapy Concerns

Acupuncture is also associated with relief for symptoms that come with chemotherapy. Hot flashes, depression, pain, vomiting, fatigue, sleeplessness, depression, dry mouth, anxiety, neuropathy, and lethargy have been eased or eliminated through acupuncture.

Needles? Yikes!

Fear of needles is a very common issue for people. Our vaccinations in childhood, the booster shots given a few years later, flu, tetanus, and even having blood drawn make people cringe at the thought of being punctured. Needles come in a variety of gauges or sizes. The aforementioned needles are larger because of their purpose. Needles or pins used for acupuncture are much smaller, as their purpose is not to inject something into the body but only to provide a barrier. So, rest easy and relax. This is not a painful procedure. Acupuncture is safe and effective for the whole family.
